How the fit score works
The fit score is a 0 to 100 measure of how well a notice matches your profile, with every point explained. It does not predict winning.
On this page
Every matching notice in Victavio has a fit score from 0 to 100. It shows how closely the notice matches the business profile your workspace entered. It does not predict whether you win. Nobody can promise that.
Where the points come from
The score adds points for each kind of match, and takes points away when a deadline is very close. Every point comes with a reason you can read.
| What matched | Points |
|---|---|
| Same 6-digit NAICS code as one of yours | +40 |
| Same first 4 digits of one of your NAICS codes, when there is no exact match | +25 |
| Same first 2 digits of one of your NAICS codes, when there is no closer match | +10 |
| Your keywords and service words found in the notice | up to +25 |
| Set aside for a status you hold | +10 |
| Total small business set-aside, and you are small | +5 |
| Work is in one of your states | +10 |
| No place of performance given, or remote work | +5 |
| Due in 7 days or more | +5 |
| Due in less than 3 days | -10 |
The score never goes below 0 or above 100.
Reasons and things to confirm
Open any notice to see:
- Why it matched: each reason, with the points it added. For example, "Same NAICS code as yours" or "Work is in Texas, one of your states."
- To confirm: things Victavio cannot know from the notice and your profile. For example, "Check that your SAM.gov registration is active" or "Confirm your size under this NAICS code." SAM.gov registration is free.
Read the reasons. A high score built on keywords alone deserves a closer look than one built on your exact NAICS code.
What the score does not measure
The fit score does not know:
- How strong your response will be.
- Who else is bidding.
- What the buyer thinks of other companies.
- Your capacity and cash this month.
That is why the score sorts your list and you make the decision. See Decide to bid: the questions to ask first.
How to make the score more useful
Your profile drives the score. In Settings, under Workspace:
- NAICS codes: add your main code and close relatives. These carry the most weight.
- Keywords and service words: use the words buyers use in notices for your work.
- Places: list the states where you can do the work, and whether you work remotely.
- Certifications and set-asides you hold: these decide which set-aside notices count as matches and which go to "Team up or watch".
- Size: whether you are a small business.
After you change your profile, scores update after the next sync.
Scores and lanes
Lanes use the score along with the notice type and the set-aside. For example, a notice must reach a minimum score to appear in the Go lane. See The four lanes in Victavio.
Briefs do not change the score
On Pro and Team plans, Victavio can write a short brief of a notice, with exact quotes from it. The brief does not change the fit score. The score comes only from the rules above, so the same notice and the same profile always get the same score.

Find bids that fit you
Victavio checks SAM.gov every day, adds Texas state bids from the ESBD, and scores each bid for your business.
